When I requested a credit report from TransUnion after my Chapter 7 bankruptcy has been discharged in Dec. 2010, I found two suspicious entries. One says that I have an account with Chase and another was from a third party collection agency that bought my account . I was able to contest the Chase but the other from the third party is still showing as an open account. I called them today and told them that this should not be an open account since my Chapter 7 bankruptcy has been discharged and they were not the original creditors so I did not list them when I filed for bankruptcy. What does it mean when it says open account on my credit report? They want me to furnish them a copy of my discharge but I told them no because I told them that the court sent the copy of my discharge to the original creditor. Am I correct. I just do not know why this third party account is still showing as open and says it will be gone in 2014. I need an advice anyone who has gone through this.

I would send the discharge (just the discharge notice) to them, with a letter stating they are violating the permanent stay and you will purse legal and administrative remedies if they don't immediately delete the reporting, send it CMRRR.
The fact they weren't listed has no bearing on the fact the debt is discharged, I'm betting they will fold when you do this.Chapter 7 Filed 8/11/2009, Discharged 11/23/2009

I just found out that this company that is in my Transunion Credit Report is the same HSBC bank but they are using a different name now...Beneficial National Bank . I called transunion and asked for an investigation and I told them that this company is HSBC also and that my account with HSBC has been discharged when I filed for BK so that entry should be taken out from credit report.
