    Discharged but not closed!

Case discharged 1-3-2011. Pacer says awaiting closing. Should I be concerned that our case is not yet closed? I was under the impression that these events happened almost simultaneously. We are chapter 7, no asset. Trustee abandoned. Please advise. Thanks.

Discharge and closing don't always come one right after the other. In a no-asset Chapter 7, you may see the closing immediately, or it may get stuck in the line with all the others. Your debts are discharged, and that's the important part
Filed pro se, made it through the 341, discharged, Closed!!!

Simply call your bk case worker at the Courthouse. The telco lead through will advise you the button to push by your docket number. Ask him/her what may be the problem. We too had to call, and we needed to give a copy of our marriage license. We were never informed of this but we use different sir-names so in about an hour after emailing this to my lawyer and her to the PACER, we were discharged. Your close may be just paperwork or the same scenario. We were an asset so our close took more than a year. Try it, they don't bite and are very nice. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

Thanks very much for your informative responses. According to pacer there are 2 other status pending. It lists these items, no description avail for instDn, 85 days and one for description not available for type, PaymntComp. 77 days, Awaiting closing 9 days. I believe I will phone the clerk. The lawyer did not file the waiver to initiate installments on the filing fee. We had to rush to the court house to pay before the 14 days were up. I have a receipt for that cash payment, but it looks like there may be a clerical error as to the entry?

We were discharged (in western district/ also Michigan) on the 3rd of this month and haven't had the status of "closed" yet either. However, it says days in status 8.
I've heard it can take a couple weeks.

I am waiting patiently too. blah

Great News!! Our case has been discharged AND now it's CLOSED! You are exactly right, it took two weeks from discharge. Hopefully your case has now closed also.
