Joint Debt, only one Ex spouse files

My ex filed bk on our joint debts. I have not filed. I was told that there is a form that I can sign to state that she is the owner of all the debts and they will not pursue me. We both live in the state of Missouri. Has anone hear of this form? If there is no such form is there anyway out for me w/out filing for bk? In the divorce she was responsible for this debt.

The fact that a divorce decree says your ex is responsible for a particular joint debt doesn't relieve you of liability. The only way for you to have gotten "off" each debt would be by agreement with the creditor, or your ex paying off or refinancing without you to pay off.

You have a right of action under the divorce decree that survives bankruptcy to sue your ex for the debts you now have to pay, but can't use the divorce decree as a defense against those creditors.
