    IRS and Transcripts

I had a small business that really never did anything (expenses outweighed income) and had 1099's issued to me for some contractor work. All of this was claimed on my taxes but I owe taxes from 2002 and when I try to order my transcripts, I get transferred to wait for an operator.

I stopped paying my installments and got at letter from the IRS for an intent to levy. That was dated Nov 8th so I want to get my bankruptcy filed asap.

Can I send in a paper request for my transcripts but submit my petition without the transcripts? (since mailing in the request will take a couple of weeks to get something back) or is there another route I should take?

    Two options:

    1) I don't know how close you are to an IRS service center, but you can go in and they'll print the transcripts for you right there. (I've done this.)

1a) Apparently, I do not have enough posts to post the link to the IRS web site that lists the IRS local offices in Colorado. Go to the IRS web site and type "Contact my local office in Colorado" to find the list.

    2) Are you working with a lawyer? If so, he/she should be able to get IRS to fax the transcripts over.
