    The Sheriff came today.....question.

Seems like I'm posting more....stuff comes on the weekends when attorney is not available.

We won't file until Feb, but today the Sheriff came with a Summons (the first one) saying we have been sued by our mortgage company. We will go into foreclosure, which we knew would happen.

My question....will the Sheriff be back with a summons for every dept, i.e. charge cards? I freaked out this a.m. after he left...husband was at work...it was expected but devastating at the same time.

I posted on the foreclosure forum also wondering how much time we might have in the home...we are in Indiana, which is a judicial state. At least the person delivering the papers was professional and polite. The "Have a Nice Day" kind of left me speechless, though.

We were served with two different summons for credit cards. Those were the only two that had sued us and we filed the month after but I'm sure there would have been more. The sheriff's deputies were very nice though.

I figured we would get served with each seperate lawsuit.

"Have a nice day" doesn't surprise me....they say that when they ticket you too. ;)

        Hi clc,

The Sheriff at the door can be a little frightening, just hang on to the thought that they are just part of the process.

Funny story about the "have a nice day" ...friend of mine coming through the grocery store line got the standard "How are you doing today?" and he deadpanned "My grandma died and my dog got run over." As she handed over the receipt she gave him the proverbial "Have a nice day"

Yes, you'll get a separate summons delivered by the Sherrif for each of the CC's that file lawsuits. Some may not file by the time you get your BK filed though so maybe you can avoid some of that.

Once you file for BK they won't be serving or filing any more of those though.

Good luck. I went through (am going through) a similar thing.
Well, when you're married, you'll understand the importance of fresh produce.
