    My Chapter 7 is filed!

I knew several years ago I was probably headed to filing Bankruptcy. With a drop in self employed income and getting custody and raising 2 grandkids, it became reality much sooner than I anticipated.
Stopped paying and using CC s 'bout this time last year. Retained and paid lawyer last spring. Spent all year and up to this morning, not answering a single phone call...letting the answering machine pick up, or as I have been doing the last several months, just hitting the ringer "off" button when I see who it is.
I kept all records/collection letters, documentation, and all the info I would need to meet with the attorney, on a daily basis. Was in no hurry to file for no particular reason....knowing I could quickly get with the attorney.
Almost 10 months of not paying, I was sued over a BB&T credit card, a few months ago, so that got the ball rolling to get filed!
Checked PACER yesterday....attorney got me filed around 4:30. Looking forward to the 341 and getting this behind us.

I filed yesterday also...but, for some reason, I can't relax. My lawyer's office has assured me that my case is "easy," and they expect it to sail through....however...I've had a raging headache since yesterday.

nervous1, like many others have found, this forum has been a tremendous help in understanding what to expect. My lawyer also told me he didn't expect any problems.
                    Good luck with you case!

Congrats dub and nervous! Yea I was a wreck, and i mean a literal wreck, for the 2 weeks leading up to and through filing...anxiety meds and cigs was all that kept me from crumpling in a ball or nervousness most days.

I've been feeling a lot better lately since then, although i have to get some amendments done to my paperwork which has me a little stressed at the moment. But not having to pay your CCs, etc. and enjoying the 'force field' the stay provides you with is a nice feeling, especially over the holidays...no more annoying phone calls and physical mailings about my debts!

This is the first Christmas I have had since I have been out on my own where I won't be going further in the hole once it's all over! Can't beat that feeling!
Ch7 no asset Filed 11/23 341 12/21 discharged: 2/22/11 I am soooo totally not a lawyer, but i wish i had married one! Does that count for anything?
