file in indiana or in florida

WE are looking at moving from indiana to florida, likely within the next year if not 6 months

Plan was to file in feb/march, should I file in indiana, or wait and file in florida?

Are the exmpetions better there, or here, also would the move open me up to use the federal exemptions?

    Hi bigtime,

If you move to FLA (or any other state) you can't use their BK exemptions until you have been there 2 yrs. After you have been in Fla 90 days or so, you can file there instead of having to go back to Indiana. Another thing the comes up if you move, Indiana has a 'domiciled' requirement, so you can't use their exemptions after you move, and you can't use Fla exemptions b/c you haven't been there 2 yrs, so you end up using the federal exemptions.

Whichever way you go, hope it works out for you,
