filed wednesday, on line access to accounts

Well, my lawyer filed chapter 7 on behalf on wednesday. I went to try to pay the house payment on line today and bingo bango! access denied! I'm current with them and plan on doing the ole pay and stay option. My question is how long to you suppose i won't have online access to my account with them? Also a little tid bit. I have direct deposit with Chase bank to my checking account. They did not freeze my account seeing that i had a 500 dollar balance on a credit card with them that is in the chapter 7 as well.
I would like to extend my thanks to this forum. It has made with rough choice easier to swallow with all the knowledge and insight that many have. Now its the 341 meeting, then i can join the 60 day club.

After I filed, I had to either pay the mortgage in person or pay by mail. I called the lender and got the address they wanted the payment mailed to. This should work for you too, psx402. Good luck!

I had a vehicle loan that was the same way. On-line access was denied, and they would not open it up for any reason. I had to send them a copy of my discharge papers in order to get them to mail a statement to me. Still... no on-line access.

If you've got Online Bill Pay with your bank, you should be able to set up your mortgagee (and anybody else who has suspended your online access) as a payee and pay them electronically. Easier than hunting down things like account numbers, mailing addresses, etc., and your payment is guaranteed to get there in most cases.

          Hi psx, and welcome!

For many banks the standard operationg procedure for a BK is to cut off online access, auto-drafts, credit reporting, and statements (or any combination.) They are afraid of violating the automatic stay. Since they have restrictions on contacting you, you have to contact them. They can restore these services if you ask, trick might be finding the right person at the bank.

This really varies, some banks don't stop anything, keep rolling on like nothing happened. Some banks shut everything down and some people talk about having their accts frozen. The bit about Chase is not surprising, in some of the megaconglomeracorps the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing....Chase banking and Chase cc probably don't talk to each other, different divisions in different states.

The trick is to be proactive, just b/c they cut off access doesn't mean you don't have to pay to stay current.

Hope you had a great T-day!
