Today's my date of discharge and I have a question

I can't believe it's finally here. It's weird. I'm not jumping up and down like I thought I would. My question is: Should I check PACER now or wait until after 5 PM when the courts close?

Just a wee warning....while this may be day 60 for you, it does not necessarily mean that the discharge will show up today. This is, after all, a government agency we are talking about, they could be backed up, the closing clerk might be out sick, or any number of other things. I would wait till 5 pm and check, but not have a coronary if it is not there yet.

PACER is the government website where you can check on the status of your case. www.pacer.gov. You need a credit card to sign up. Search the forum. There's a lot of info on PACER.

I would like to use pacer to find out if our bankruptcy has been discharged yet. It has been 76 days since our hearing for chapter 7. Can I see if it has been discharged by using the pacer site?

Agreed with what was posted above. Hopefully your district isn't backed up and you'll get your discharge right away, but it may take longer. I had to wait until day 81. If you find after 7 days you haven't received a discharge, call the courts. That is what I did and I finally spoke to someone who was willing to help me and I was discharged the next day. If I hadn't called, I might still be waiting for my discharge! Either way once your 60 days is past, your good to go. Congratulations! Hopefully it will show up for you soon.

Dneil, Yes you can check Pacer to see if you've been discharged. Here is a link about Pacer - http://www.bkforum.com/showthread.ph...Guide-amp-Tips. Good luck to you.

I just registered with pacer...and I am waiting on my login info. All I want to find out is if my BK has been discharged yet. Can anyone tell me where I should look rather than looking at a bunch of pages and costing myself extra monies?

                  i'm going SMACK you! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

with ours they didn't issue it for 24 hours after the exact "time" period had pasted...

i knew this because my notices...which are right in front of me...were in fact "dated" the day AFTER the 60 day mark and we rec'd both the discharge and the order of no distribution at the same time...since we didn't use pacer.

and.......happy turkey day to you!! ...you'll most likely see it monday at latest..

I know, I know. LOL. I guess I sort of expected to be discharged. The good news is that there were no objections. I just want to see the word "Discharge". Discharge is the word, not Grease. LOL.

From what I see, even though it has been 72 days, we are not discharged. I think I am looking at the right place. Then I clicked status and it says 132 days awaiting discharge. I just want this all over with so I can move on with my life. I was so hoping to see that it has been discharged.....

Since your date of discharge has been long gone, why not call the clerk of courts in your town? Don't be scurred. Maybe your call will prompt them to post it.

Yes. I might call them and ask them what is going on. It has been 72 days. I honestly thought I would see something somewhere that says it has been discharged. I did see that someone tried to object and wrote a letter in September. The courts wrote him back and said he would have to pay a filing fee of 250 dollars and a formal objection on or by November 7, 2010. I don't see anywhere that he did file a formal objection. Do you think this is good, or is it possible that a formal objection just isn't showing up yet? He only had til the 7th of this month.
