We recently found out that one of our creditors filed a notice of appearance AFTER we have already went to the meeting of creditors and no one showed up. Trustee said everything was fine and then this was filed just 3 days before the deadline! what is going on? its the weekend and our attorney isnt working tonight.. should we be worried?

A Notice of Appearance is no biggie.
All it means is, a creditor is asking to be kept informed as to all filings related to your case. AMEX does this frequently. They did it me via a lawfirm in Pa. though mine was before the 341.
Unless you get a notice of an Adverserial Proceeding being filed you're OK.

hey.. there is not much more that i know right now. our attorney sent us a letter stating that a notice of appearance was filed by an attorney of one of our creditors on november 13th... literally that is what the letter stated and all that was filed. I was just concerned as to why an attorney representing the creditor would file this AFTER not showing up to the meeting. I have always understood and found on this forum that attorneys usually file these before the 341 and have not been able to find an example of them filing after. i understand the deadline, but am curious as to why they would only file a notice of appearance and then file nothing else.. the deadline was november 16.. which was 4 days ago now. since they filed the notice of appearance, does this give them extra time for something?? or does the november 16th deadline still stand?? like i said, our attorney is away, since it is the weekend, so we might have to wait until monday.. since this is the first "hitch" in our bankruptcy, i am just really nervous, hubby says not to worry, but its hard not too.. all i can find is that they just want to know whats going on.. thats fine, but wondering if this would give them extra time.. and thus make us wait even longer.
thankyou guys so much!!! i really appreciate you answering.. sorry that this is the only info i have been given from the attorney right now.

Hi adhesivelove,
Its not a big deal, just a formality
It just means that any information about the case goes to them, they do it in case there are any funds to distribute to creditors.
When they file it doesn't really make a difference, they just want to get it in under the 60 day post 341 deadline.
would give them extra time.. and thus make us wait even longer. ...nope, all the timetables go as planned
hubby has it right...not to worry,
Tom in ColoCh7 filed 5/12/2010.....341 meeting 6/30/2010....report of no distribution 8/15/2010.....discharged 10/01/2010.....closed 11/09/2010
