Actual expenses and receipts?

We are way below the median income (6 of us in our family) on the means test. Will I have to list actual expenses and show receipts? This is kind of overwhelming to me....

Also, does anyone know if they want bank statements, and if so, how far back?

Thanks ToBee! Unfortunately, my bank only has bank statements going back to August. I went "paperless" so I don't have copies before then. Do you think this will be a problem? Or should I wait until I have 6 months worth of statements to file?

Do you know if they scrutinize every transaction? Such as pizza night or the occasional trip to McDonald's? Do we have to account for every single penny of my husband's check?

Sorry for all of the questions! I do appreciate your help. Hopefully I will learn enough to be able to help someone else

i would try to contact the bank to see if you can get "hard" copies...also...can't you located them online???

the bank may charge you a fee to retrieve them, however, if i recall correctly, be defiantly needed the hard copies for six months. so it's worth giving your bank a call about it.

yes.. i think that's what it's all about... playing it forward...many of us have been there and done that...so it's just part of the process, all those that helped each other it's a great scenario for all.. and don't be sorry at ALL!! ask questions as you need to, there is usually someone always on to help.

Shrews228 I am not sure which bank you are with but my bank only showed 3 months or so but there was a link that I could request additional months which I did and was able to get them online. Check it out.

Hi shrews,

Your under median so no need for expenses on the means-test, so you just have schedule J to fill out. Schedule J is 'forward looking' so it is what you expect for expenses post-BK.

The bank statements will depend on your trustee, you can call their office and ask what documents they will need.

And don't worry, they aren't looking for pizza night and a movie...they are looking for big money transfers in/out of the acct.

Unless you are getting $200 pizzas and $300 movies, not to worry....
