As the title says -- it's past the due date for creditors to file claims (10/25) and I'm considered an asset case and I'm making payments to the trustee. My question -- if no creditor filed a claim, what happens to the money I'm paying? Does the trustee keep it as his fee?

The trustee will summarize all of the funds collected in his final report and then propose a distribution schedule for the creditors filing claims. He will also indicate the portion that goes towards his fee. In my case, the final report was submitted shortly after the claims due date. However, if the trustee hasn't collected all of the payments from you, he will hold off on filing his final report until he does.Chapter 7 asset case
Filed 1/8/10; 341 2/8/10 (10 minutes);
Discharged 4/12/10; Closed 11/4/10

Hi Dax,
making payments to the trustee .....this can't be random, didn't you get a document spelling out what this is for?
I don't think the trustee gets paid directly, they get a % of what they collect and distribute....
If you are in a Ch 7, wouldn't it be either paying for non-exempt $$/property that wasn't there when you filed or you are buying an asset back from the BK estate....?
Hope you haven't been forking over $$ for nothing...
Tom in ColoCh7 filed 5/12/2010.....341 meeting 6/30/2010....report of no distribution 8/15/2010.....discharged 10/01/2010.....closed 11/09/2010
