We told my mom and dad quite a while ago that we thought we were going to have to file due to my job loss. My dad filed about 3 years ago (I gave him the money to file) so he was ok with it. I thought my mom would be a bit more judgmental since she's an accountant, owns her own company and pretty conservative in her values, but she hasn't said one negative thing. In fact, she's tried to give me hints on how to screw the banks over even more!
My in-laws are another story. They are from the UK, and I don't think they truly understand how a BK works. They've gotten borderline nasty/hostile with my husband about the whole thing (mostly from his mother), so we really try not to discuss it with them anymore. I think once it's all over, done and dusted, everything will go back to normal. I'm sure some of it comes from them being worried and know they can't do much to help us, but I just wish MIL would be more understanding.
