Is it illegal to call the trustees office when you are being represented by a lawyer?

I called the US Trustee today to get an update on a waiver of non-appearance for my deployed husband. I found out that my lawyers office never sent all the needed paperwork. The paralegal at the attorney's office told me that I am NEVER to call the Trustees office again... I thought that you were allowed to?

    Thanks in advance

If you have an attorney, you should always go through the attorney. As everyone always says on this board, "Remember, the trustee is not your friend. He is there to protect the interest of the creditors." That said, don't sweat it too much. You are under a ton of stress with hubby deployed. I doubt that making that one call is going to be a big deal. So, take a deep breath, and try to relax.

      Hi 21bwife,

get an update on a waiver of non-appearance ...for stuff like this, catch it on PACER, or call the court clerk, just be nice even if they aren't, and preface your remarks with 'I have a procedural questions' what was filed, how do I file this, what happens after this, ftc

Trust your lawyer, the "DON"T CONTACT THE TRUSTEE" policy might be from his experience of the chaos of not having a team leader.

Good luck with the BK rodeo,

A trustee will not speak with you directly if you are represented by counsel. His office staff may about certain general things but cannot advise you as to the handling of your case or may not even talk to you period and advise you to contact your attorney's office.
