Finally happened - first missed payment letter

For those that read the first couple of my posts, you know this is all new to me, and more than that, you know full well how not just nervous but how upset I was over going this route. I was sick to my stomach to even think of not making my payments. I literally felt like throwing up for a few days.

True, my co-worker who just went through the process said that is what needed to be done, everyone here said the same thing, and my attorney said the same thing. Nevertheless, it killed me to think of it.

Still, as of a couple of weeks ago, I did, in fact, not make my CC payments. Have I missed or been late on a single payment my entire life? Never. I mean that quite literally - I have never been late or missed a payment. I'm now a month away from being 34, so to not miss or be late for that long was just mind boggling. But I got myself together, and I did it.

So far, no phone calls. I know full well they are coming, but nothing yet. Today in the mail, however, was a different matter. The CC with my highest debt is a Bank of America card, and I now have my first letter from them less than one week after missing payment. What's funny? I've had the card since 1998, and not once did I get a nice letter or card from them thanking me for making my payments. Now in less than a week I get this. Even funnier? They are 'concerned' about me. Never in my life have I read a letter that is concerned about me that upsets me more and does not at all seem concerned.

As everyone knows, it went on to say I should call them or log on to their site to set up different payment options, etc. But no, it will now be filed away with my other statements and the like.

I don't really have a point to this message short of venting. Oddly, this one letter has made me feel not nearly as guilty as I did. The word 'concerned' that they used infuriates me and just does not sit well. It's written like a slap in the face. True, it's nothing more than a form letter sent to everyone, but THIS one was sent to me.

That's about it. The future will bring more letters and the calls, I know, are coming eventually. Kills me not being able to filed until late January, but what can you do but hang in there. I love reading a few of the more recent posts about users here who have gone through and completed it, and I cannot wait to post that about myself.

    Take care, everyone!

Hey pikaroth, I sure remember your earlier posts. Glad Bank of America found a way to make you feel better about the path you decided to take, I knew they were good for at least something.

If you have a Citibank as well, wait for it....picture of a hand reaching out across a celestial serene sky..."we're reaching out to help you....." ...LOL. I rolled when I got that one. My wife thought I had finally gone off the deep end....and worse of it all, that letter was for her, except that I saw it before her...she had no idea!!!

Glad you're realizing it does get better! Hang in there, we're all in this boat.
