paying property taxes ??

Here's my question.. Do i need to pay my 2010 property taxes on a house that I gave up in my bankkruptcy ?

I'm sorry if I continue to ask questions but how else can I learn from my mistakes !

on a side note.. All i really need to worry about as fee's go, is to pay my HOA untill the deed is taken out of my Husband's name ??

Hate to start a new thread about this so I'll just go from here.. In today's mail I got a nice little reminder that I still need to pay my 2010 property taxes ? Should i call them and refer them to Wells Fargo?, or just ignore it ?

Just ignore it. I get them all the time. Then eventually you'll get a receipt from the county saying the tax was paid. The receipt won't say it was paid by your bank; it will just say PAID. Just wait it out.

When I went through this, I let the township know we had filed BK and that the property was returning to the bank. The township quickly contacted them...

But what if the bank does not pay and the state places a lien on the property and also the owners tax refund (if you receive one)? At that stage doesn’t it also get reported on your credit report?

Property taxes go with the property--not the owner. You do not have personal liability for them under any circumstances. Of course, if the bank fails to pay them, the county can (eventually) foreclose on the tax debt, or sell the debt to a third-party investor who can eventually foreclose.

The bank does not want to lose the house to the county, so they are very willing to pay the taxes.

P.S. The bank pays the water bill too. I paid mine and it was returned by the county. They said it was already paid, so now I don't worry about it anymore.
