    Pre filing credit class

I am about to start the process for Chapter 7, I have been informed that I need to take a pre filing credit counseling class...

My question is, do they provide such a class on-line?

    Thanks

    Jay

yes we took our on line...but it took a few hours...other people said theirs was 15 minutes. we used cccs...which is now another company...but you should check with your local court or atty to make certain the course you talk is acceptable.

also the total cost of ours was $100...while others only pd $15...beats me! i would attempt to locate the cheapest online acceptable course available.

        Fatjay,

That was the one my husband and I took. It took about 20 minutes and cost $25 for a couple. Oh, and you could print out your certificate immediately.

Our pre-filing course was free. Go to this site to check for approved courses in your district. http://www.justice.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa...e_approved.htm

I just clicked on each one till I found one that was free for the pre-filing cert. I did the same for the post-filing debtor education. We paid $13.95 (one price, both certificates) for that course.
Filed pro se, made it through the 341, discharged, Closed!!!

              Wow, that's hefty, tobee!

My pre-filing course was actually free but they are not accepted in ALL States - but I guess that applies to virtually any agency.

I just went ahead and used http://www.abacuscc.org/index.php took about 10 mins and I was able to print the cert right away...They are certified in AZ and phase one complete...have a lawyer picked out but he wants some money to get the ball rolling ( thats normal I would guess ) and pre class is complete..

Many lawyers have coupons for the online courses for people who are unemployed and filing bk with them. The coupons allow you to take the class for free.

I just finished my pre-filing one, mostly online with the last part over the phone. Quick, cheap and painless. Cricket debt counseling was who I went through. The attorney's office gave me a packet with 3 or 4 of them but the paralegal said that that was the cheapest and easiest of them.
