I just wanted to update on my recent panic attack that you were so kind to help me through. (Thank you)

DH declined the job offer this morning. It turned out to be a huge legal conflict in addition to a financial conflict for us and the company would not ammend the employment contract leaving him open to a huge liability (non-compete/confidentiality/etc).

I am so relieved! I was really scared to go back to the way things were and no matter how much money he made it would not change the stress and anxiety and distress it would cause us as a family.

So I am back on track to file Ch 7 in January. In my mad panic over what was going to happen, I managed to get most of the paperwork gathered that I will need so that is a huge relief. Now I need to start putting it in order.

Tobee and wnguyen (and maybe ccsjoe) thank you for the kind words. It means a lot that there are folks out there that understand. My family has been extremely supportive for us to do what is right for our family and it really makes a world of difference when faced with a situation where any decision is very complicated and leads to a difficult road to travel.

Yes. An offer of 7 weeks of temp employment that might lead to permanant IF he signed a contract that required him to 1. lie and 2. assume all liability in a very risky situation. Huge moral and logical conflict for us. I suppose in THIS economy one is simply expected to bend over and let them give it to you however they want. Poor sad middle class americans who shouldn't put value on their quality of life as it pertains to employment and take all the risk to boot! We should get down and kiss the faceless huge corp @ss while kissing our personal lives goodbye.

Why should we sacrifice time with our children, time as a family and frankly years we can never recreate or buy back because the economy tanked when we have a young family? Why should we have fewer children and smaller families to enjoy in our golden years because a bunch of careless lenders and greedy corporations stifled us as a country?

We want out. Away from this crappy city that places too much value on material gain and outward appearances. A fresh start with YES sacrifice and difficult choices, but those of our choosing (like living on one income, filing bk, establishing a new career). I am so sad for so many of my peers and how much this "bad economy" has affected such a monumental time in our lives.

I believe we are making the right choice, for us. If we didn't have my income or the bk option, we might be forced to go another way. I believe we can invoke this change instead of being a corporate pawn and we will be better for it. No easy choice I promise you.

A very good old movie relevant to October is "Wilderness Family". It is old if you can find it, and a little Disney like, but a very good movie relating to how you are feeling. It is a good movie and the kids would love it as well.

My second is "The Edge" fairly current and a bit rough for kids, but mainly a survival movie. And the next is a futuristic called the "Postman" a most Patriotic survivals movie. All very good entertainment as well as educational.
