    What else besides inheritance do you need to report?

    What else besides inheritance do you need to report after your 341 meeting. I know you have to report any thing you inherit 6 months after your 341, but what else (bonus check, income tax)? I will probably be receiveing a $300 bonus check next month, do I have to report this?

    Thanks

    First of all, it's 180 days from your FILING date-not 341 meeting.
    There are only 3 circumstances that require you to report anything in that time period and a bonus isn't one of them.

    5) Any interest in property that would have been property of the estate if such interest had been an interest of the debtor on the date of the filing of the petition, and that the debtor acquires or becomes entitled to acquire within 180 days after such date--

    (A) by bequest, devise, or inheritance;

    (B) as a result of a property settlement agreement with the debtor’s spouse, or of an interlocutory or final divorce decree; or

    (C) as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or of a death benefit plan.

            Ok, thanks for the clarification. The 341was a pretty stressful day, so I couldn't remember what exactly the trustee had said.

              Unless you were told very specifically to report something or other to the trustee before you cashed and spent it, I would say that you are good to go.

              When we had our 341,Feb 7, 2008, news about the Bush Stimulus was just hitting the news. We owed IRS big bucks, so getting a stimulus check did nothing for us wxcept getting a bit knocked off the total amount we owe. However, we did hear the trustee tell the lady in line before us, that if she got a stimulus check, she was to notify the trustee before she did anything else. This was February 2008. I don't remember if she was pro se or not.
