    question on 3 bills, one hospital....schedule E

ok, so I went another step and pulled up my health insurance claims over the last year, thinking I missed someone.

I found the info for an ER visit.
    One hospital, 3 divisions:

    xray
    dr
    general treatment

I had the bills for 2 of them when i filed, and included them seperately on schedule E.

Now, what to do with the third one? The payee is the same.

Do I need to revise my schedule E to add this extra $100 in, or will the hospital wipe out all charges under our name?
Filed PRO SE 10/12/10......341 held 11/8/10......awaiting discharge.....

I would add it, but it costs to revise your schedules once you have formally filed, so wait a few weeks to see if any other revisions come up and do them all at once.

You can amend your petitions up to discharge/closing. The $100 difference is almost as much as the court is going to charge you to amend the petition, so if you think you are going to have other changes to the petition, I would save them all up at once. You are charged per time you change the petition, not per line item in most courts/districts.

Wow, bts, your district must really ding you! We only have to pay $26 to amend a schedule:

Amendments to Schedules, or list of creditors,
to add or delete a creditor or when
amount or classification of debt is changed $26
Filed pro se, made it through the 341, discharged, Closed!!!

            question though.......

what if I find some old bills from creditors I missed on E AND the mail matrix.

Dont I have to get them onto the mailing matrix sooner than later, i assume i cant wait till just before discharge to add them right?

My district charged $60 per change to a schedule. My attorney rounded that up to $100. You could have multiple changes per amendment, but were charged for each new amendment.

Yes that is correct. You need to get the notice mailed to them as soon as you can. If they complain they never received a notice that could delay things, but usually they won't formally complain. It is only if they file a complaint that they never received a notice that your discharge would be delayed.

                    Hi all, Hi DZ,

The medical bills go on Sched F with the other unsecured, nonpriority folks. They just seem like a priority.....

Another tactic with creditors you forgot on the creditors matrix is to send them a copy of the BK notice w/ case # and file date; and a nice letter asking them to update your account and remove the pre-petition balance. Courts have pretty consistently held that pre-petition unsecured debt is still discharged even if you forgot to list them.

or will the hospital wipe out all charges under our name? Maybe but don't bet on it...medical billing is a fun puzzle to tackle...like you said, 1 hospital, 3 bills...and at least hospitals have their own billing dept, lots of Docs and small outfits farm it out to a separate billing company, including ER docs who are often paid separately from the hospital. And you have to watch large hospitals, they are notorious for double billing people, send a separate bill out for X-ray and then include the same amount on the hospital bill. I almost found it a relief when they sent it out for collections, the collection agency wasn't nice but at least they knew what amount was owed to who.

                    Venting a little there....sorry...

                      I meant to put F, not E

i did actually do that right LOL

Thanks for scaring me on the hospital bill thing. but I will keep your idea in mind for sure for the creditors i do end up missing inevitably

shoot...sometimes the best way to fill in the amount...which is what i did was amount...unknown ...that way there was nothing to worry about.

now since you are listing the correct creditor it may even be ok without amending it. really...because for an example...you had your last chase bill at let's i.e. 3k.....sooooo you're filling out your forms and while your doing that chase has now socked your account with fees, late charges...took their family to dinner and wow...your bill is actually now up to 4k!!!!! what happened??

my point is...as long as they are named...the creditor, the amount is not as important. call the trustee's office tell them about it and see what they say...

So, maybe I did this wrong.....but on F....I put all of them like this if they were different amounts owed to same creditor for different reasons

                            Hospital ABC amount $62.00

                            then a new line for:

                            Hospital ABC amount $120.00

Was this wrong? Since I have a third bill, I dont amend the creditor, I amend the whoel schedule by just adding a new one?

Debt - congrats on getting ready to file

How we listed ours was separately even though to the same hospital - only because it had different account numbers. I dont know if yours are the same account number or different; ours were one for myself and one for my son, so we each got different account numbers. I'd say if the same account number, then add together the total and submit that way.
