Checking Account/Overdraft Account - same account number

Hey y'all. My checking account number and the overdraft account number are the same. I included the overdraft in my creditor matrix. Would that mean that the checking account is also included since they're the same account number? Thanks.

Hi drowning,

Empty out the checking acct, put what ever is left and the overdraft in the BK

When you BK hits, the acct will be frozen and what is in the checking applied to the loan.

Hi Tom,

I already had my 341 meeting and I'm waiting on my discharge. The checking account had a negative balance at my time of filing. I got a letter 2 days ago that the account is closed and that I'm responsible for paying the negative balance (a little over $200). I'm just wondering if I have to or should I call the bank and tell them that the checking account was included in the BK by way of the overdraft protection account. Thanks.

Hi drowning,

Return their letter and include a copy of the BK notice w/ case # and filing date. Add a warning they are violating the BK discharge injunction and if they do so again, they will be liable for damages and attny costs.

Someone (maybe cssjoe?) told of his 'one bite rule'....creditors get one bite, then a stiff warning, and the next bite sends them to the dog pound..

You should aslo make sure they actually close the acct, just saw a post from someone whose bank left an acct included in the BK open and active.
