Should I call my cc's, mortgage lender, and heloc?

I recently got rid of my old cell company and went with new. New phone number as well. The old is the one where all my accounts had the number. So, as of today, I'm going on 2 months late with all my payments. I have received letters from a couple, saying they've been trying to contact, and for me to contact them. Nothing threatening yet, just that they're "concerned" and want to help! I don't have a landline anymore for about a year.

I will be filing end of October.

They do have my email, but haven't received any emails. I'm sure they have my work phone number, and maybe some reference numbers but again no phones calls through my business line, nor, as far as I know, to any family or friends.

I was thinking of taking some time this weekend, and contacting them from "neutral" phone number, possibly even a pay phone. I don't want them calling through work lines, or contacting my family and friends.

Should I waste my time, or would this be something I should forget about since I'm filing withing a few weeks? This feeling of hiding out, and not having contact in anyway is sorta working my nerves.

If you don't contact them they will try to get you through any number available...work, family, friends, neighbors, etc. If you do contact them, there is no guarantee they still won't call you at work etc, but the odds decrease. Be prepared as they will ask you for new contact info. Look into something like google voice just in case.

      Hi Panacea,

I don't want them calling through work lines, or contacting my family and friends.

If they do, remind them this is illegal under the new 'fair debt collecting act'

If you are filing this month, I wouldn't bother contacting them. Comes under the 'more trouble than it is worth' category...
