Paying for attorney & other stuff

I know the attorney only accepts cash for obvious reasons, but do I just go withdraw cash to pay him and that is ok? Will I be asked to explain these large withdrawls?

Also, DH is recently unemployed and with the job went his laptop. We own no personal computer and would like to at least purchase a used laptop for him to search for and possibly do some work. Would this purchase be ok? We're thinking a couple hundred for something mediocre.

I am planning to file the first of Dec or Jan depending on how things progress with the mortgage lender and/or CCs.
    Stopped paying 8/2010, Filed 2/2011, 341 3/2011 done, Report of no distribution . . . Discharged & Closed 5/2011!

For the laptop, make sure that you have adequate "exemptions" to cover the laptop. Exemptions are what protect your personal and real property from being taken by the Bankruptcy Estate and sold to pay your creditors. As for the attorney, attorney fees are a necessary expense. Just keep your receipts.

      Hi october99,

SC has pretty generous personal property exemptions, and if needed the laptop could be exempted under 'tools of the trade'

If you haven't paid the attorney yet, folks here on the forum advise shopping around for an attorney who is a good fit for you, someone who seems knowledgeable and you feel comfortable with the way they operate.

      Good luck w/ your filing,

      Tom in Colo
