My 30- or 45-second 341 Meeting!!! Unbelievable!!!
OMG!!! I was stunned! I got there 1/2 hour before my time. They don't call you on time. The time they give you is a "block". So lets say they give you 10AM, you're really scheduled to be seen no earlier than 10AM or after, which could be 1 hour later. My trustee was sniffling and blowing his nose like he was coming down with the flu. All the attorneys in the room knew each other. There were a lot of "Hey buddy, how you doin'?" Even my attorney was in on it.
As for the debtors, OMG. This one guy transferred $20,000 from his bank account to his wife's account, but stated that it was all for household expenses. Of course, the trustee and the debtor's attorney, according to my attorney, are partners at the same firm. Hello! The debtor was let off the hook when his attorney stated that he had receipts to prove the expenses.
There was one woman who filed pro se. She did good. She was just about off the hook when the trustee confirmed with her that she had no income. She said she's a student. So he was on her side, sort of. Instead of just saying yes, she said "Oh, but you don't want my paystubs?" Then she tried to pull them out of her bag, and he said "Not here, not now. Go in the room next door and sort them out chronologically and bring them back to me." She did, and he let her go.
There were a few missing documents for some, who had to get them to the trustee within 2 weeks. There's one guy who was adjourned. He was self-employed and the sole guarantor of a business for $500,000. Oh boy!
There was this old couple - at least 80 years old. I felt so sad for them. Overall most cases were 3 to 5 minutes, but mine was like 30 - 45 seconds! Not exaggerating.
