Wow, only a few days after the paperwork is filed and...

I get this letter in the mail today. I about laughed myself to death!!!...

"You have joined thousands filing a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. Here at Yadda-yadda Chevrolet we understand the bankruptcy process. We are Western Pa's bankruptcy specialists. Many customers come to us unsure of how or what to do once their bankruptcy is filed." Blah, blah, blah.... "Yadda-yadda Chevrolet wants you to know that there is life after bankruptcy!! Our Fresh start program was established to let you know the important things your attorney didn't tell you about your bankruptcy!!"
So I guess that this is some of the bail-out money hard at work that the automakers got.

It's that last line that got me the most, since when has a car dealership ever had concern over my best interest.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the auto industry's bailout. With thousands upon thousands (including me) that have found themselves in such horrid positions due to the downturn in the auto industry, that's not funny, and it's certainly not accurate.

I thought you were going to say that your phone stopped ringing. We filed on Friday 9/17 and had to tell some creditors that called that we filed. I didn't tell all of them, didn't get a chance.. I have not received a single phone call today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd say it's not unreasonable for them to offer credit to fresh bankrupts, so long as the rate is reasonable. You are an excellent risk now, after all, no debt and can't refile anytime soon.
filed chapter 13..confirmed...converted to chapter 7...DISCHARGED!

But the funny part is, I have only filed. No 341 date yet, and definitely not discharged yet. Just a car dealership looking to make money by having someone scour public records for people who have filed (I wonder how much they pay for that?). Can't blame them for trying, after the mess they got themselves in, but it went to File 13 anyway!
