When you say credit agencies, do you mean credit bureaus (Trans Union, Experian, Equifax)? If so, you can write all the letters you want. The trick here is to be sure all the creditors are reporting the BK correctly to the bureaus.
I would wait three months after discharge and pull the reports. If there are any issues you can write letters to the bureaus. The problem here is once the creditors report again, it will likely be back to square one.Chapter 7 filed December 11, 2009, 341 Meeting held on January 7, 2010

You're talking about credit bureaus. I'd wait about 60-90 days then check your credit report from all three bureaus to see that information is being reported (in)correctly. There are a couple posters here "IBroke" and "tcreegan". They're both masters at this piece of the game. Look up their posts, IBroke has a really good one under rebuilding credit I believe.Stopped paying: 08/10, Filed CH7: 08/27/10 , 341 & No Asset Report: 10/6/10, Last day to object: 12/06/10, Discharged: 12/07/10, Closed: 12/08/10

Hi all, thanks for the compliment cssjoe!
The credit bureaus are...well...bureaucratic. Wait till your case closes, give it a week or so then pull your credit reports. I have found that the trick is writing letters and being persistent. (if you write, they will send a new copy of your report in their reply) The automatic answer from them is NO but if you are persistent enough, they eventually come around. I think they do just to get rid of you. Make sure all accts discharged in the BK have a zero balance and do not have a negative notation like 'charged off' or 'closed by issuer' They can be marked 'IIB' (included in BK) I persisted and got a pre-bk judgement removed; amazed at how much that improved the score. Took about a year of letters back and forth.
It is a battle, but if you need your score for something, it is worth the stamps and envelopes....

i'm giving it at least 2-3 months before evening requesting my credit reports...i'd rather not do twice the work.
this way it gives all of them time to update their reporting records and i'll go from that point.
