Although, i almost got into trouble when someone said (who's name shall remain nameless...drowning123...lol!!), they'd be moving in with my wife and me...and i'm the wife...my husband could go for that...and actually, if she cleans and cooks i could think about it. I wouldn't even care about something as trivial as a name?

    lmao!!!

I got my name years back when I could not spell explorer. I had a Ford Explorer years ago and I registered for some email account with exployer. I did not notice under someone asked about my screen name. No one can ever tell if I am a man or woman at first. Also I do not have a ford anymore. I just continue adding number at the end of the name over the years.

I am NOT an attorney. This is NOT advice.

I cringe when I see something that looks like a real name/date of birth, and get really worried when its accompanied by details that could identify a person. No doubt there's a lot of people named tom jones, but if that's your name and you use it here, and also give information as to where you live, marital status, number of kids, issues with relatives, someone who happens to know the real you would realize that the tom jones posting on this board is you.

I follow a few blogs about personal finance issues where I am concerned for the authors, as I know I could figure out their identities if I wanted to based on the information in their posts. I have no desire to do such a thing, but the mere fact that someone could is alarming.

Lee is my middle name, but it is almost like using Smith. and 123 is pretty generic. :P I only use the handle for this forum.

For what it's worth, some of the "real" attorneys on the site use their real names. Some are more anonymous. I came up with my screen name to reflect my state of being at the time of filing in July 2008.

If you are solo/single/introvert type, old/retired in distance places, have no friends, not living with your family anymore, working alone in big city, or unemployed, or don't go out every weekend, party, picnic, or socialize much with people around daily, etc.. then you can use your real name. (Nobody cares what you do anyway since they don't know you well)

If you live in small suburban city, or rural, or small towns (where everyone or neighbor knowing each other very well), or have kids and friendly neighbors, so many people's rumors & pep talk at work going daily, or living/seeing with family/relatives daily, EXTROVERT TYPE, etc.. then better to HIDE & use faked nick than your real name here. (Newspaper or website they can read daily?)
