    Running some figures....

Turns out I have equity in my car. Just great!

Is the wait between when you set up the appointment with your attorney and the actual appointment killing anyone else?

I am working on my list of expenses trying to get ahead a little. I do no have receipts but I live by debit card so I know that the SUNOCO debits are for gas and the GIANT ones are for groceries. Is that enough of a breakdown or do you think in order to further breakdown the GIANT receipts between food and household items etc I should keep the next months receipts? Is one month enough? I normally shred everything.

Oh, my FICO went up two points today..... It's mocking me!

    Thanks,
    Ugh

How exactly did you determine you have equity in your car? KBB? NADA? Maybe go get a certified appraisal from a dealer?
      Stopped paying: 08/10, Filed CH7: 08/27/10 , 341 & No Asset Report: 10/6/10, Last day to object: 12/06/10, Discharged: 12/07/10, Closed: 12/08/10

        joe...our trustee used KBB.

KBB is standard from what i understand. just jump a few times on the hood and you'll be fine..really.

My attorney told me to use kbb as well. I'm sure those scratches and broken lights are easily fixable with duct tape right?

scotch tape will make a "better" looking picture than the duck tape...and of course scotch tape is cheaper...so you don't want the trustee to think you waste cash on luxuries...

              LOL You guys!

I owe 4700 on it with a payment coming out on Monday which will bring it down to 4200. It has high miles but is in really good condition. I used KBB and the category of if I were to sell it private....was that right? At that and using the one step above poor though it is in better shape than that I get $11,415 as the value. I can't really afford to give it up as I need a car for every day to get to school. What are your thoughts.

ok...if it will make you feel better...have the trustee truck themselves to the parking lot and take a look...make certain you have someone smoke in it..BARFFFFFFFFF out....and use black washable marker for scuff marks..k....

::scribbling furiously:: I am taking notes here.

                  Got it!! and MUCH appreciated!

I wonder if I go to a dealer as ccsjoe suggested and tell them I was told by my mechanic that MAJOR engine work needs done if I could get them to write me a lower estimate of worth, thoughts?

i think that would work...maybe...however, they usually use KBB. but they don't really go to the parking lot!! LOL!!

I kept all three cars with equity in my Chapter 7..What caused the value to go down was things like, require transmission work and dents...

Mine runs well most of the time but has a 'shiver' at 40mph. My mechanic told me a few months back that the drive shaft is bent and would be a minimum of $1400 to fix but that if I did not mind it was not dangerous to let it go a while. Thanks wsy, I am writing that info down for my attorney.

ugh...nope i didn't blog it...we had a methodology with our bankruptcy which took actually years in the planning and execution.

i'm not certain exactly how it feels yet to be over all of this...i still feel like someone is "breathing" down our necks...only because it is so what we were used to.

it truly is like a game of chess....you need to study every move you make. with us it was so complexed...i just needed to be careful and proceed slowly.

however, everyone needs to look at their own personal situation and plan accordingly. some people it's simple and cut and dry. of course...we just were not as lucky...

you'll be dancin soon enough ugh...promise!!!

I have and equity issue with my car. My car is paid off. According to KBB my car is worth $3850 in good condition.

My attorney told me to go to a used car dealer and have them write on their letterhead how much they would be able to see it at as is. I'm going to tell the used car guy that my car needs breaks, belt, air condition broken, windshield cracked, anti theft doesn't work, electrical problem as headlights dim then go bright while driving and a couple other things. 140,000 miles on it also. it's a 2002. I

I've also looked at craigslist and search for my car and print it out if it's a low price. Searching on web for similar cars and so far found one $1700. We have only $700 exempted.

My other option would be to buy a new car. I'm not sure I can afford it as I haven't done a budget yet. Going today to retain the lawyer so hopefully the lawyer has done up a balane sheet.

                              Good luck
