Just Filed Today! About 6 Months Earlier Than Planned.

So I had a meeting with a second attorney yesterday. This one was SOOOOO much better than my first. I met with the actual attorney of the firm and it was just such a laid back conversation. He didn't make me feel rushed, it was very conversational and we actually did a bunch of brainstorming and he went over all of my scenarios. I see why he is well respected around here.

Anyways I had planned to file after my tax return next year. I have 4 accounts with a CU that are over 60 late and they have been making a bunch of noise about going ahead and filing suit. I know they do blow a lot of steam but to scare you but the letters were coming and so were the phone calls saying it was imminent. That had made me move up a planned meeting with the attorney to check him out.

After going through my personal situation with money I have coming and the tax return for next year, it was decided that I would file today. So after much paperwork and phone calls, Im filed! I have my case number already.

I made my first phone call to the creditors, to the CU. When I first called the guy started to get right into the questioning of whats going on and wanting to help and the spiel about charge offs and legal and I said, I actually called about that, I filed bankruptcy today. I could instantly tell his mood changed and his voice changed. He went ahead and took the info and said he'd update so they don't call again.

Today is the first step to a much less stressful future. I must say that I've gotten used to not using credit for anything and not making debt. Things are going to be much different. Lesson learned. Don't spend it if you don't have it.

For all of the effort creditors go through to get you on the phone to collect, when you call them back to notify them of the filing they can't get you off the phone fast enough!
