The other day we received a Motion For Relief From Stay from our mortgage lender. We are surrendering the house so this was not a surprise. We filed 2 days before the house was scheduled for foreclosure sale, but not for that reason -- we'd already moved out.
I noticed that in the paperwork there were two Notice of Appearances -- both for the same attorney, but one was representing CitiMortgage, and another representing "U.S. Bank Home Mortgage, as Server for Michigan State Housing Development Authority, a secured creditor in this case." As far as I know the only creditor on the mortgage is CitiMortgage, and it has to nothing do with Michigan. We do not have a second mortgage or anything. Is this an error, or has CitiMortgage perhaps in the process of selling the debt?
