    Help with credit cards

A few months ago (when I was still trying to pay everything off) I got into payment plans with most of my credit cards. I allowed them to schedule these payments to be on auto-withdrawal from my bank.

I just went into their websites--and it won't let me delete or change the scheuduled payments. If they try to autowithdraw--I will have major over the limit fees--because there is no way the money is there.

    What can I do?

would it work to just close the bank account and open a different one?

Let them try to withdraw. Same thing happened to me sort of, but it was payday loans. My account is currently negative and the bank has placed a block on it. I plan on bringing it positive - it's only $225.00. The bank says to call them when I do. Open a new checking account and have your salary direct deposited there as soon as possible. I did that and as soon as I bring my account current, I'll close it.

Agree with drowning. Go open a new account at a bank where you have no credit relationship with. Please do this before you are seriously delinquent/overdrwan on your account or it can impact your ability to open new accounts. Then decide, do you want to bring the old account current or include them as a creditor in your matrix and be done with them?

so I can go in and place a block on the account so that no one can make a withdrawal?

and tell them to close it completely and give me a new account (and not allow any previously authorized auto withdrawals)?

I already bank with a place where I don't owe any money---and the account is current.

I would like to stay there if possible--it is a credit union and they have been very good to me.

I just need to stop Citibank, Chase etc from depleting my bank account.

I would go to a new bank and close your old account, but that's just me being cautious.

Didn't notice you had replied already. Some credit unions are notorious for "dismissing" members when they learn of their BKs, others not. So Citibank, Chase etc are doing autopays from your CU account correct?

I think you telling the CU you "lost" a box of check books, or some other way that your account information may have gotten compromised and you want a new account number and the old one closed...should suffice. However, I still stick by the above. Chase and Citi know where you bank....again, I do tend to be paranoid, but my training made me so...and it actually is an asset

How much money are we talking about Anna (Chase and Citi)? I'd close the accounts then. Take that money and go open a new account. Trustee won't mind. My lawyer told me to explain that I have an account included in my BK that is linked to my checking account and in preparation for my bank not servicing me anymore, I closed the account.

I just popped over to Patelco CU (about the only other bank in town I don't owe money to) and filled out the application.

It is "pending" any idea how long that will take?

CC payments are taking about 1200 per month out of my account. Now that I am pretty sure I will be filing--I think it is time for that to stop.

Tomorrow I will go to my CU and try to get them to stop withdrawals from my account for the time being.

It may take a few days ? not sure--I haven't applied for a new bank account in ages. I have been with Golden1 since about 1990!

I really really appreciate the help.

I'm familiar with both Patelco and Golden 1, but have no idea how long they take to open an account. I know when I went to US Bank two Saturdays ago, 15 minutes before closing time, I got our account opened in 14 minutes....AssMan...err I mean assistant manager wanted to make sure he could close branch on time....hehehe

I bank with Citi. They blocked my account all on their own. Glad they did because one of the payday companies keeps emailing me saying they can't access my account. I can't say exactly how long it will take for you. Hopefully one day.

open an account at the same bank and close the hold one. If you tell them what is up I am sure they will help you out

when you open a new account they don't pull credit right?

I am fine on Chex Systems have never gotten in trouble there.

And you don't need a job for a bank account right?

Sorry--it has been so long since the last time I did this!

They verify chexsystems and some take a soft peek at your credit in order to offer you an overdraft LOC.

You don't need a job for a bank account, no.

                            LOL

                            Keep asking
