    Monthy income

How much disposable monthly income are you allowed during a chapter 7 in WI?

The amount on the MEANS TEST is the same in every state.
Over Median Income - 10/04/10--Filed Pro Se Chap 7/ No Assets 11/10/10--341 Held 01/18/11-- No Distribution/No Funds 01/19/11--Not subject to dismissal under 521(i)(1) AND --Reaffirmation Hearing Held = APPROVED 02/10/11--Discharged

I have a question in response to gman's answer. On the means test I took for PA, it clearly stated if you have 117.00 of DMI you will be required to file CH 13. Yet I see almost eveyone using a figure of about 187.00..........can someone clear this up?

      Thanks!
      Filed CH 7 4/15/11
      341 5/23/11
      DISCHARGED & CLOSED ON 7/27/11

Did you take one online? If so - where?

The best one for all 50 states is at:

Also - do not forget the MEANS TEST and Schedules I and J often come up with different DMI figures.

The Means Test DMI looks backwards (6 months) and Schedules I and J DMI look forward (based on your current situation.)

The DMI on the Means Test simply lets the court know if there is a "presumption of abuse" or not.

Think of the Means Test as a screening interview and it makes much more sense.

You could pass the Means Test and not qualify for a Chapter 7.

You could fail the Means Test and actually obtain a Chapter 7 due to "totality of circumstances." (Note: This is scenario is rare, however.)

          Example:
-You did not have a job for 5 of the last 6 months.
-Your last 6 months DMI was very low (negative) so you pass the Means Test with ease.
-However, you just landed a job paying $100,000+. -
-The DMI looking forward is such that you are forced into a Chapter 13.

Hopefully this paints a picture for you.
