    341 and beyond

I was doing great with my finances until Aug 2009 and everything went out the window. I tried to keep up payments on my CCs, but couldn't and finally after almost a year of trying to make arrangements and trying to keep them I just couldn't do it anymore and talked to an attorney. I filed BK 7/16/2010 and have my 341 this Wednesday. I was fine until this past weekend and started to worry about the exemptions. My attorney never explained what exemptions were, but only asked what all my possessions would bring at a garage sale and I said 1000.00. I did tell him I had a couple laptops that I used for work, but they were two and three years old and he said not to worry, but I am.

I am on SS Disability and do some part time work to supplement my income and if I lose my computers the work goes out of the window. I am so worried, can't eat, can't sleep. I have nothing of value that is newer than 18 months old. Help.

    exemptions usually too high

    Hi Marcia,

People tend to overvalue their stuff and there is always room under the exemptions. If you saw a two year old used laptop at a garage sale, what would you give for it?

    Take deep breath and relax......
