What can stop you from getting discharged?

If you're below the median and have a negative DMI, what else could stop you from getting discharged from a Chapter 7?

A couple of things that come to mind:

1) Failure to complete the credit counseling within 180 days prior to filing and/or failure to file the certificate of completion

2) Failure to complete the personal finance course within the allowable time (I think that one has to be completed by 45 days after the 341)

3) Certain types of fraudulent activities (i.e. hiding income/assets) could precipitate a trustee filing for dismissal for abuse

Others may be along with other ideas - but these are just a few that I can think of right off hand.

Hi drowning!

Wonder has your answer, the only other thing that comes to mind is not sending two years tax returns to the trustee or filing them w/ the petition (whichever your district does)

Also, on the post-class, the certificate has to be filed with the court, so leave yourself a couple days to get this in before the 45 days.

Lol ....if you are going to have a party at my surrendered house....you have to give me time to mow the weeds, we went over to check on the place and the weeds were shoulder height !!

LOL!!! we HEARD the bank is mowing our place...it's over 3 acers of lawn!!! i guess them must just being doing enough so people can get in and out...

unfortunately we have NO spies up there to go look at it for us. the only reason i know the bank is mowing is because when i ask them to sign a release to remove our names...they looked it up and said it was being taken care of.

i'm working on getting them to release the property prior to the forclosure since it had PMI and was an FHA....no need to spend government...or your tax dollar to cut MY OLD lawn!
