    what do trustees look for in tax returns?

    I was going through my folder of documents to find my tax returns for the previous two years to make sure I still have them. I was wondering what they are looking for in the tax returns.

    Mostly income and see what deductions you claim and checking for consistency between what you put on your petition.

    For example, if you have a schedule C on your 1040 for business expenses but nowhere on the BK petition do you mention anything about a business, the trustee will want to know...

      A tax return is a great place to find business assets. Anything that is set up for depreciation will be on those returns.
