Car lease billing notices after Ch. 7 has been filed

I filed for Ch. 7 in California on July 7th. My 341 Meeting is August 19th (this coming Thursday).

My car lease was up on July 4th. I turned it in that day, and received an estimated summary of lease end charges, which I included in my BK creditor's matrix.

Although they have received notice of my BK, they have sent me two billing statements and a notices to pay the lease end charges.

My question is, do I need re-send them the notice of my BK filing?

Did you file pro-se? Send the documents again, with a cease and desist letter.

If you have a lawyer take the notices to him and let him take care of it- that is why they make the big bucks

The definitely should not be billing you for charges incurred prior to filing.

Thanks for the advice. I had a simple case so I filed pro se. I will follow your suggestions.

document each time

Hi,, just be sure to document each time. The court will award damages for each time they cross the line. It can add up quickly. I have seen fines in the $70's for each occurance (ie: ea letter)

Some lawyers will take this on even if you can't pay. They get the allowed "atty fees" if you win.
