Lawsuit GE Money

I planned on filing at the end of August for bankruptcy and was just wondering if I will be okay now that I just got wind of lawsuit filed by ge money. I looked online and discovered that they filed suit on 07232010. If I go ahead and file on August 31, 2010 do you guys think I will be okay? I just want to get filed prior to having to go to court about the matter. Any help would be appreciated.

The samething happened to me with target, i gave my answer to buy me some more time and when i went to court i told them that i had filed bk and gave them my lawyers info and i have a continuance because my papers wasn't filed yet with the court.

You will be ok just have your lawyers info and ask for time to file.

Nokia123 thanks for much that puts me somewhat at ease. What did you say specifically in your answer to the complaint? Another question is that the address there sending suit to is my parents where I actually no longer reside can I file for a change of venue since they are filing suit in wrong county or no? I think when I moved from my previous place I used my parents address for business purposes until I got my new place but I never changed it because at that point I wasn't paying the bill anymore.

I said i did not agree with the amount, that got me 2 month delay before i got a court date to appear and explain my answer. I went to court last week and told them i was filing bk.

I went to district court website to see if I could tell fee to file an answer in Michigan. Unable to find that information. Is it typically available online?

you can call the court and ask them for info you need. they will tell you if you have too just answer or show up for court.
