Not listing Federal Student Loans on schedule F?

What, if anything happens if you don't list federal student loans on schedule F, when you aren't in default?.....infact they won't be dispursed for 2 1/2 weeks

I ask, because I spoke with my financial aid office to ask them about 'when I file' & 'how it will affect my federal loans'............They said, 'no, you'll be fine as long as they aren't listed on your bankruptcy filing'......In hind-site I should have additionally asked, "well, what if I do"....

I did mention needing to sign a new promissory note and she said yeah at worst.....but Now I'm sitting making sure my forms in order for tomorrow and debating whether I should leave them on or take them off. I know Title IV protects me, but I suppose I'm trying to avoid any hiccups, although removing them might be the greater of the 2 evils.....

    opinions? thanks!

You have to list your student loans. If you are filing Chapter 13 then the trustee will have to sign a letter stating you can have additional loans. If you are completing a chapter 7 then after your 341 meeting and no-asset case is issued you will not need anything additional for the school.

The school I am attending in the fall told me the same thing. I had no choice but to file. The reason why they do not want you to file for BK is because in some cases your loans will go into default. You would have to contact your lender and ask them to remove the default status, because you are still in school. You may have to go through hoops to get your loans, but it can be done.

If you do not list you student loans, then your case can get dismissed.
    Chapter 7 filed on 4/23/2010
    341 meeting on 5/28/2010
    Discharged on 8/19/2010
