    reaffirmation

I recently filed chapter 7 and was given the choice about whether I should or should not reaffirm my home. I was told that it may be better in my case to not reaffirm in case we went into forclosure. This way we could not be sued. I decided not to reaffirm. I was just told by the bank that if I want to refinance or do anything with the home, I should have reaffirmed. I checked with my bank and was literally given the cold shoulder (I mean literally). Not only are they hanging up on me, they tell me staright up NO Refinance. They will not touch anything on the home (I am not sure why they were more than willing to modify the mortgage a few months ago, saving me $50 a month. I did not accept this as it would not have saved me enough money). Well, my husband is the only one working and I am on unemployment which will not last long. Is the bank allowed to do this? The banker stated that it wasn't them that decided this. He said it was way over his head as well. There was absolutely nothing they could do. I make my payments but I can never refinance or basically have them involved in anything in the future as far as the home goes. I really don't think this is fair--all because I did not reaffirm. I also wonder, what happens if I can't make payments on my home. Can they come in right away and kick us out? What other options do I have? I do know that this home no longer shows up on my credit report. It is like I am paying rent and that is all. Any ideas?
