    IDEA For Rent? Umm

    I think this is going to be a little crooked if you call it that. After reading posts people say after my BK#7 filing date I am responsible for any and all charged occured.

    So technically since July (this month) I am responsible for Rent. OK So thats $685.00 + Whatever electric is etc.

    So anyways here is my idea:
    Once we get tossed out (Evicted after bankruptcy is FINISHED) What i am going to do is have my roommate file for Chapter 7 and put me as a codebtor for the Apartment that we live in now. So then we dont owe basically anything we walk away.

    The thing is is this kind of sneaky or is this out and out fraud. I have been thinking of it that technically we have been living here free (JUNE 4TH OUR RENT WAS DUE) AND I filed JUNE 9th. So technically ALL BEFORE June was included in Bankruptcy. Now i just have to worry about this Month (July and August)....

    Am i correct LOL

    Listing you as a creditor in their bk just means you couldn't sue that party for breaking the lease and leaving you responsible for the balance.
    Your landlord would still have recourse against you for post petition debt.
    I'd hope your roommate would have a lot more debt to file against than a lease.
