Please see link below. I thought this was only true for Chapter 13 cases (getting approval from trustee before discharge)? I've read some conflicting information within the forum. I've been trying to research the topic since my main mode of transportation has a transmission that doesnt not shift to the last (overdrive) gear!!

I believe as long as the bankruptcy is still open (before discharge) you still need permission. Ask your lawyer.

In a chapter 7 you really only need the trustees permission to dispose of assets before discharge. So if you are looking to convert exempt cash to a vehicle then you really should check.
