    My Filing Experience

US Bankruptcy Court - California Central District - Riverside

After about a week of hammering out paperwork, I finally filed today!

One thing I like about BK is that it forces you to examine your financial situation...and after having my head in the sand for almost three years now, it sure does feel good to know where I stand.

I arrived at the courthouse this morning about 10 minutes after it opened. Had to go through security (unexpectantly had to remove shoes and had on NO socks...yikes).

I checked in at the info desk where I was given a number. When my number was called, the clerk took my paperwork and asked me to have a seat. I waited about 20 minutes for her to log my paperwork in the system.

When I was called back, she gave me my change bank, gave me a list of the forms that I was missing and gave me the date/time of my 341 meeting.

I found it to be a quite pleasant experience. Everyone there was very nice, smiley and helpful. It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be...only about 20 or so people in the huge waiting area.

One thing I noticed is that the people filing looked like they could be my neighbors, co-workers or friends. All normal, everyday people.

They gave you change? My District doesn't give change. You hand them $300... and they keep the $1. LOL

Hey, congrats on coming up for air! It will be all downhill after the 341, which you should try not to worry about. That's much easier said than done I know, but it will all be over soon!

        Good luck,

        ep

Yeah, that would make me wonder where all of those extra dollars are going. What if they put them in a lottery pool each week, or added them up at the end of the year and divided them amongst their employees...profit sharing, lol.

Thanks, epiphany. I was completely honest with all of my paperwork so at the 341 meeting, all I will have to tell is the truth. Feels good!

Isn't that the truth! We're counting down the days to our 341 too. It is such a relief to finally have the paperwork in!
