Joint Bank Account But Filing Separably

I am in the process of going through the Chapter 7 process and one issue that popped up was the fact that I was added to my wifes savings account awhile ago just in case of an emergency.

I have emailed my attorney these same questions but it is late and they probably won't respond until tomorrow and I just can't turn my mind off about it.

Should I remove myself from her account?
    Close the account completely?

But I also don't know if joint accounts are affected at all or if they can be seized. (I live in TN)

We are still in the first year of marriage and my debts have become a horrible strain on her and I just can't bear thinking her savings could be cleaned out due to my stupidity and poor money management.

Thanks for any input...this forum has been a GODSEND in dealing with all of this.

It's my understanding that if your name is on an account you must report it. Check with your attorney as some assets are exempt and this might qualify. Best to be upfront than to have them find it and get into trouble.

My attorney advised me to be removed from the account but we will still need to report it.

I couldn't live with myself if my wife lost her savings that she accumulated before our marriage (less than one year married).
