I had to pay my trustee about $5K to buy back my assets. I was informed by his office to send a cashier's check. I got this check, and sent it via USPS certified mail. It has come back to me TWICE as undeliverable, and now I have the postmaster for my zip code and for the trustee's zip code involved. I showed my local postmaster the letter and the letterhead from teh trustee's office, so we have verified it is the same. On the THIRD attempt, it seems that the postmaster at the trustee's zip code is having difficulty finding the envelope!
OK, so I call the trustee's office. They say that they get mail all the time, although sometimes they have problems, but that they eventually get the mail. Of course, they say it is MY problem that the USPS is incompetent, and they won't lift a finger, even to go to the local post office to pick up the letter directly from the postmaster there.
Anyway, I call the bank and ask what to do if the cashier's check was lost in the mail. they said i have to wait ... 90 DAYS before I can get a new one issued. I only have about 3 weeks left on the time frame that I need to pay the trustee. As I have just gone through BK, I don't have a lot of cash hanging around to lend myself, essentially.
I have no idea what to do, although it seems that I should be able to explain the situation to the presiding judge to force the trustee to wait this out.
Any ideas?
