    Health and dental insurance

My husbands new employer (as of February) does not offer health or dental insurance. He is 100% commissioned employee, and it took four months for him to build up a semi-steady income. We have saved enough to be able to get health and dental insurance starting this month. At the same time we are getting ready to file. Will we be able to use this expense on our Schedule J, even though it is a new expense?

I have no clue what I'm talking about, but I would assume that it's totally reasonable. I can't imagine they would expect you to go without insurance to pay creditors.

It sounds like before the job change that you and your family had employer paid health insurance. Paying for it now wouldn't be a stretch, hopefully your trustee will see it that way. Good luck!

Medical insurance is a legitimate expense. Since this was an expense that you had of February, there should be no issue including it in your Schedule J.
