    Changing Bank Questions

From the advice of my lawyer, since my current bank is one of my creditors, is that I need to open a new bank account at a new bank prior to filing (chapter 7)

That being said, I have wanted to join a local Credit Union. If I open a account at the CU, then file, will they cancel my accounts?

Or should I stick with a traditional bank?

We switched banks for that very reason. I would not expect the CU to cancel your accounts.

Well I went in and applied at the C.U., and explained everything about my situation prior to going thru the motions, and they were more than happy to answer my questions.

They said they wouldn't change anything to any of my accounts after I file, unless I was one of the creditors I was defaulting on.
