How will I know if the trustee is taking tax return?

We filed chapter 7 in April and are awaiting discharge any minute. My question is the IRS states that they have mailed our return..but have yet to receive it (mailed 5/28) we moved and did file the change of address form. Not sure if they got it because no live person will talk to me at the IRS until 6/25. I called the FMS apparently they do the refund offset and there is no claim on either of our ss#'s. There is also nothing on PACER, as far as I can tell regarding a distribution of any assets. Can anyone help! I am just assuming the trustee is going to take it...but would like to hold out hope!

Was your attorney able to exempt it?

I don't think so. I have a call into him, but he has not returned it yet. we are on day 63 pending discharge. They did ask for 12k back from my father in law, and the refund is 14k.I fully expect them to take it, do you know how they would distribute the money, what percentage to which creditors. 26k would pay off most of our credit cards!
