    Ugh! Need some advice.

Okay I am starting to hate my lawyer. It seems I can never get a straight answer out of her!
Okay here is the deal. I have 40K in credit card debt alot of which dates back from years ago before my current marriage. However I have used all the cards while I was married as well and a couple I opened up in the last year. My husband has a few cards as well that add up to about 6,000 that were pretty much racked up in the last 2 years of our marriage because we were struggling to pay all my debt. We live in California which is a community state and that confuses me even more. SO we were thinking of only me filing and knocking out all my credit card debts. However after reading I am wondering if he would still be liable for some of that debt? and if he should file as well and just wipe out his 6000 as well and start fresh!? We both have chase cards since I am going BK on mine could they come after him for that debt since he has a chase card as well!?? Would they close his account when they find out we are married!? I am just so confused as to what to do. I have to file because all my cards raised there interest rates for no reason on me before that law passed that was supposed to help us! yeah right!! So I was unable to make the minimum payments. I am kinda stressed do to phone calls and my lawyer told me to tell them I was filing BK and I gave them her number. Wondering if that is even a good thing to tell them.~ I am really starting to lose faith in my lawyer. I have paid her a down payment and signed paperwork that i was retaining her and now i wish I did not. Any advice would be so appreciated. I feel like i am going crazy trying to figure out whats best.
