I have a question about the federal exemptions. From reading, it seems like the federal exemptions allow you to use $10,000 from the homestead exemption, roughly to exempt personal property. What is considered personal property? I have a collection of stamps that I began collecting as a child (plus I inherited my mother's collection that she started collecting when she was a kid). Altogether, the collection is worth about $7,500. I also have a very small collection of coins, about $1,500 worth (although I would need to have it appraised to get an exact amount). Can I use that exempt these items? Thanks!
