a closing can come at anytime. some close before the discharge by mistake lol who knows why. its wrong but whos gonna figure it out.

anyways, there doesnt seem to be a set standard for the closing. all you need is the discharge. that is good enough. dont worry too much.
Im not an attorney or a trustee. You cant trust me either though!

Hello, I'm awaiting closure now too...how long did it take after the trustee filed his final report of no distribution for your case to be closed?

Closing usually happens soon after discharge. If a case is an asset case and/or the UST is involved, it can take much longer. My case closed nine months after discharge.

Our closing came 165 after discharge. We were a no asset case and discharged Nov 14. We did not close until April 27th! We waited and waited, called our attorney and were told not to worry but of course we were worried because of our income tax refund that no one had mentioned or exempted. Finally I called the BK clerk and she huffed a little and told me to hold and then came back on the phone and said she would try to get to it by the end of the week. She closed it the following Monday. No explanation as to why it took so long between discharge and closing. And we kept our refund. Good luck and don't worry to much. It seems like the majority on here close within days of discharge. We were just one of the strange cases I guess.

Thanks for sharing your timeframe. My discharge was denied 3/24/08. The ch 7 Trustee filed his report of no distribution on 1/9/09. I am now awaiting closure 119 days.

Thanks for sharing about your wait....I went to the court website and looked under statistics and discovered that each judge has over 5000 pending cases....my judge averages closing about 300+ per month...thus my case closing could happen anytime from this month on.
